The project aims to increase energy access across sierra leone through a dual approach: installing mini grids in strategic communities and deploying standalone solar systems in schools and health facilities nationwide. Unops through the ministry of energy (moe) signed an agreement with the world bank to implement a $12.7m project with the aim to increase rural electricity access through mini grids and standalone home systems in sierra leone. This landmark initiative, funded by the european union and implemented by unops and its hosted entity, sustainable energy for all (seforall), is a significant stride toward sierra leone’s goal of increasing energy access in rural communities nationwide by 2027, powered by solar mini grids.
