Securing Benin S Organic Cotton Future Traid This project marks the first textile related project traid funded back in 2009, and a long term commitment to expanding organic cotton production in benin which has seen us invest over one million pounds. Our 2024 funding will support 9,000 organic cotton farmers to manage crops organically and expand benin’s organic cotton production. farmers will learn how to farm organic cotton and secure organic cotton certifications through the farmer field school model.

It continues to hold a prominent position on the global stage and has extensive experience in west africa, including benin, as well as special expertise in organic cotton and in purchasing cotton in countries with a small scale farming system. Working locally and with a hands on approach has led to over 8,000 farmers in ethiopia to grow cotton without pesticides and 4,475 farmers in benin to obtain an organic cotton farming certification!.
