The team can transport children who are already on ecmo to seattle children's, or connect a child to ecmo before transport. the team performs extensive simulation training to practice. The trained mobile ecmo team will travel by ambulance, helicopter or plane to washington, alaska, hawaii, idaho, montana and oregon to transport critically ill children to seattle children’s for specialized care.

The trained mobile ecmo team will travel by ambulance, helicopter or plane to washington, alaska, hawaii, idaho, montana and oregon to transport critically ill children to seattle children’s for specialized care. A multidisciplinary ecmo simulation program was implemented in a tertiary children’s hospital. over 18 months, a prospective, observational study was conducted evaluating simulations involving circuit and patient emergencies, teamwork and communication behaviors and technical skills. Seattle children’s created ecmo simulation systems that are used around the world. ecmo teams, here and elsewhere, use the systems to develop and practice their skills so they are highly prepared to provide this specialized care when a child is in crisis. This chapter is designed to outline how pediatric ecmo and ecmo simulation are different than neonates or adults and to best prepare ecmo educators to select and conduct pediatric ecmo simulations at their local institution. This review aimed to collect current ecmo simulations and simulators (ecmo sims) and determine their level of fidelity through an objective classification method.
