Version 2 Science Moab Science certified is a customized training that equips outdoor recreation guides to effectively communicate place based science and stewardship information to their clients. Science moab, the local nonprofit, realized that she was a perfect fit for a role with them. she came on board as the science certified program director in december 2022.
Students Science Moab With dual goals of increased economic development and ecological awareness, the science certification program aims to provide additional professional development for moab’s outdoor guides while incubating learning based tourism that promotes informed stewardship of the local environment. We created the science certified program because the community recognized that the three and a half million visitors coming through moab every year don't necessarily have experience recreating in a desert. we need to make sure visitors know how to engage with the landscape appropriately. Science moab has been running science certified, a customizable science communication training for outdoor recreation guides, since 2021. now, they are piloting a mini series program to offer a more affordable path to certification for individuals and small businesses. Mls graduates are eligible to take the certification examination as a medical laboratory scientist (mls) of the board of certification of the american society for clinical pathology (ascp). To enact this vision, science moab provides public outreach programming through radio shows, newspaper features, and live events; science certification trainings for outdoor recreation and guide companies; and science mentorship opportunities for high school students.
