You don't want that info sitting in anyone's email in case they get hacked, and something tells me deviantart doesn't have a security team of their own. the fact they didn't provide a secure and encrypted way to send that information is a huge red flag. It's unfortunate, and i really wish there was a way to inform people who come across them on deviantart. yesterday, i asked them if they took commissions because at first glance i didn't notice the suspicious signs. It´s a bit difficult, especially because there are a lot of bot scammers on da. but one way to see if it´s a bot is that usually they don't refer to you by your nickname but by some generic pronoun.
