As a researcher specializing in particle physics, i focus on theoretical aspects of physics beyond the standard model while looking for the hints through various cutting edge experiments; from underground to outerspace, from the extremeley precise machines to the gigantic colliders. I gave an outreach lecture in fsu’s saturday morning physics, “smashing atoms to size up the universe” with prof. daniel pershey. this year, we had two activities that many small children have engaged. M.sc., physics, university of tokyo, japan thesis: “physics of the minimal universal extra dimension model at the lhc experiments” advisor: prof. hitoshi murayama, date of completion: march 24, 2011.

In a 2024 publication, tobioka and his former student, physics doctoral alumna shemeran mahmud, presented novel techniques to observe the higgs boson self interaction, and these new techniques can be achieved with a muon collider, which is much smaller than the lhc. Learn how to view the saturday morning physics talks after the lecture date. information about previous smp talks can be found in the past events section of this website. Each fall, the florida state university department of physics hosts the saturday morning physics program, which introduces children and community members to current topics in the physical sciences, presented by scientists active in research. The program’s purpose is to further the understanding and appreciation of modern physics among high school students.
