Insert tube to where saliva pools (between the bottom jaw line and inner cheek). swab 10 times on right side & 10 times on left side. write your name, date of birth and date collected on the tube. unlabelled tubes will not be processed. unscrew the lid from the tube. turn and place swab into liquid in the tube. ensure lid is tightly closed. No alcohol consumption for 12 hours prior to the saliva collection; no food or drink, except for water, for a minimum of 1 hour (preferably 2 hours) beforehand; ideally no water directly before collection of the saliva sample. if necessary, the participant may rinse his her mouth with water. Saliva collection instructions do not eat, drink, smoke, chew gum, brush your teeth, or use mouthwash for at least 30 minutes prior to providing your sample.
