Research Yao Lab
Yao Lab The yao lab builds analytical models to investigates how emerging technologies and industrial development will affect the environment and society. we use transdisciplinary approaches in industrial ecology and sustainable engineering and link fundamental engineering systems with scaled economic, environmental, and social impacts. Our research combines a broad range of approaches, including intersectional genetics, in vivo live imaging, optogenetics, connectomics, and quantitative behavioral analysis, providing diverse training opportunities for students and postdocs. we invite you to learn more about our current research.
Welcome Yao Lab Research we are aiming to optimize and apply crispr mediated genome engineering technology to develop efficient gene therapy for muscular disorders in human and improve meat quality in livestock. The yao lab is part of rutgers university department of otolaryngology and brain health institute. we employ a multi disciplinary approach including psychophysics, neural circuit manipulations, awake behaving neurophysiology, and computational approaches to understand how the brain integrates sensory information to guide perception. Welcome to the yao lab in the department of human genetics at emory university school of medicine!. Our research is focused on understanding and targeting the intricate tumor ecosystem and its adaptive behaviors. we aim to integrate basic and translational research to accelerate the discovery of new therapeutic modalities.
Welcome Yao Lab Welcome to the yao lab in the department of human genetics at emory university school of medicine!. Our research is focused on understanding and targeting the intricate tumor ecosystem and its adaptive behaviors. we aim to integrate basic and translational research to accelerate the discovery of new therapeutic modalities. Our group conducts interdisciplinary research to answer three important questions: what are the environmental impacts of new technologies and industrial development? how to optimize a complex industrial system to balance economic, social, and environmental considerations?. By studying the neural circuit activity involved in the temporal integration of sensory inputs, our research program aims to understand how transformations of sensory information across higher cortical areas support perceptual decision making. The overarching goal of our laboratory is to develop an integrated understanding of mammalian cell fate decisions between dormancy and proliferation and their connections to cancer and aging. we study such mechanisms at two levels: gene pathway level and genome level. I joined the yao lab in 2025 as a research specialist, where i am currently involved in statistical and computational analysis for epigenetics projects, particularly investigating the role of r loops and their association with human diseases.
