I was turned off at release, but when i revisited redfall later in 2023, i was pleased to find a pretty good game waiting for me that i thoroughly enjoyed. ultimately, the game died a death, support ceased, and the studio that developed the game, arkane austin, was shut down. Arkane studios’ attempt at a co op shooter that ended up as one of the lowest rated games of last year. revealed in june 2021 for xbox series x s and pc, it’s set in the titular town where. But to what end? the problem redfall suffered was deeper than its many technical issues: there was no part of it that was fun to play. there was no amount of patches, dlc characters, and hotfixes that would change that. so, it’s a year later. we’re all a year older and wiser, maybe a little more wary of pre orders. probably not.

However, bethesda still continues to push this game even two years later, but will likely fail to recapture an audience for it. the lackluster sales of starfield and the failure of redfall mark a difficult few years for the games bethesda has published. Yes, it’s already been a year since the game came out, and unless the developers announce something between the time this video is recorded and it is published, there doesn’t seem to be anything planned for the one year anniversary. Redfall came out in 2023 and was immediately released on game pass. at the time, it faced heavy criticism, and people were lining up to beat the game up. because of the negative reviews, it was not a game that i was able to cover as part of my gaming journalism job at the time.
