Jank abounds in redfall, and i’m not just talking about performance (although the dlss implementation critical for giving me framerates that are mostly above 60fps on high – with a lot of variability – is also quite janky).

Wondering what the game is like? here are the reviews and first impressions of those who played the redfall hands on preview. Redfall is arkane’s take on the 4 player co op fps genre, and not exactly the next narrative driven solo epic like the titles i’ve just mentioned. it’s a multiplayer game at its heart, and the map is large to accentuate the open world aspect of the game. First impressions for me are that the game is fundamentally flawed, way beyond the frame rate, texture issues and glitches. while those exist and can be quite funny at times, they are not my biggest issue with redfall.

The problem for redfall is that while it all sounds great, an array of glitches, visual or otherwise, harm the initial launch experience. even visually, engaging with the world results in some. Frame rate was around 100 120 with no noticeable drops which might sound good, but frankly the game looks terrible. i tried frame generation, but the input lag is atrocious. i think this game is just about the worst showcase for unreal engine 5 that you could imagine.
