Apparently the original creator wanted them (or at least the technology behind them specifically) to be used to help with theft prevention, but massive amounts of exploitation of said tech has made nfts into a scam. Nfts are labels that claim that digital art is original and non reproducible. it's attempting to make a digital asset work like a physical one. You can create nfts of movies, music, in game purchasable items (such as fortnite skins and more) as well as in the future ownership of physical items by having said nft in your wallet.
