Never owned a jeep before and inherited my wife's father's 1978 cj5 . what a piece. massive frame rust. shoddy body work wrapped over rusty sheet metal. plated tub on the inside, again over rusty metal. poorly maintained in general. oh, a minor detail the body was welded to the rear crossmember. This has the original 304 v8 that was rebuilt by desert performance in lake havasu az in 1999 for $2700.00. at that time a new rebuilt carb was also installed. also being updated in the past year is the suspension and body bushings all the way around, new exhaust, clamps, shackles and gaskets.
