The problem with this is that his previous wife, rebecca, has died some time before. as soon as our protag enters the residence (called manderley) she feels as if she's being haunted by ghost of the first wife. maybe not physically haunted but she feels her presence and feels unwelcome. Welcome to my regular round up of mini book reviews of what i’ve read this past month! i have an upcoming book release that i adored, plus my honest thoughts on a collection of novellas i had high hopes for. in my list of mini book reviews, i include everything i’ve read recently that i finished. I've read daphne dumaurier's novel "rebecca" several times plus both sequels by sally beauman and susan hill which are also very gripping. i've watched the hitchcock adaptation from 1940 multiple times, but never cared for joan fontaine's playing the second mrs. de winter. It is a classic of the gothic fiction genre and has captivated readers with its suspenseful and mysterious narrative. the story is narrated by an unnamed young woman who becomes the second wife of a wealthy widower, maxim de winter. That is a cool comparison of all the rebecca minis. i think my favorite rebecca mini is the 2011 holiday outfit, but i don't think i have the purple meet, so it is hard to say which i'd like most. She arrives in a tiny version of rebecca’s authentic 1914 outfit featuring a plum dress and jacket with a velvet sash. includes a mini abridged version of the book the sound of applause.
