Read Across America Day United Way Volunteers will read aloud to a classroom of students. read across america day is one way that united way, along with our partners, highlights the importance of building early literacy and language skills for every child, so that all children read proficiently by the start of fourth grade. One of our signature year of action events, read across america day, promotes literacy and encourages a love of reading in thousands of students across the salt lake valley.

Each year, national read across america day is celebrated on march 2, the birthday of dr. seuss. this annual event is part of read across america, a nationwide initiative designed to encourage a love of reading in children through schools and community partnerships. On thursday, march 5, volunteers will gather at sunland park academy for a lively literacy celebration designed to spark joy and a love of reading among students. volunteers will read with students and take part in engaging activities that promote early learning.
