Rating System Climate Action Tracker
Rating System Climate Action Tracker The cat’s rating method evaluates a broad spectrum of government targets and actions to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in line with the paris agreement temperature limit. In these briefings, the climate action tracker (cat) introduces its new rating methodology, which now rates more elements than before – mitigation targets in nationally determined contributions (ndcs), policies and action, and climate finance.
Rating System Climate Action Tracker The climate action tracker rates, 2020 agreements, long term aims, and current management against whether they are consistent with a country’s fair share effort to the paris agreement 1.5°c temperature goal. The climate action tracker (cat) is an independent scientific analysis covering 32 countries and calculating global warming consequences and emissions gaps produced by four research organisations tracking climate action and global efforts towards the globally agreed aim of holding warming below 2°c, since 2009. The cat quantifies and evaluates national climate change mitigation commitments and assesses whether countries are on track to meeting those commitments. overall, the cat is rated a pro science source based on scientific methodology and adherence to the consensus of science. To filter, select a subset of countries and or overall rating categories from the dropdowns. to sort, click on the arrows underneath each of the column names. note: to correctly print all colours in the table, make sure to check the box "background graphics" in the printing dialogue.

The actions it tracks are: effect of climate policies and action on emissions. impact of pledges, targets and nationally determined contributions on national emissions over the time period to 2030, and where possible beyond. The climate action tracker (cat) has updated its government climate action rating system to better reflect the paris agreement’s 1.5°c long term warming limit. the new categories help to highlight the adequacy and fairness of government climate commitments for the paris agreement. Cat quantifies and evaluates climate change mitigation targets, policies and action. it also aggregates country action to the global level, determining likely temperature increases during the 21st century using the magicc climate model. Easy to understand, independent analysis of national climate change mitigation targets, policies and action, as well as aggregated emissions gaps data and global heating projections. widely trusted and updated annually.
