Powell Math Place Sarah r. powell is a professor in the college of education at the university of texas at austin and associate director of the meadows center for preventing educational risk. her research, teaching and service focus on mathematics, particularly for students who experience mathematics differently. Here are free, downloadable materials on math vocabulary, representations, explicit instruction, fluency, and word problem solving. this is a free download about research validated practices for elementary math. here is a free, self paced course about providing intensive intervention in math. Students will get to really put their elapsed time skills into use with this engaging real world math experience. this activity is meant to provide students with a real movie theater experience. With a focus on research driven strategies, dr. powell has been instrumental in developing and testing interventions that address critical aspects of math education, including peer tutoring, word problem solving, math writing, and understanding the symbols and vocabulary within mathematics.
