World Port Sustainability Program Cmerc The world port sustainability program was introduced to incentivize port cities to go beyond regulations and integrate voluntary sustainability measures into their day to day shipping operations. The program is aimed at enhancing and coordinating future sustainability efforts of ports worldwide and fostering international cooperation with partners in the supply chain. A group of international and local experts discussed the baseline conditions at the pilot ports, opportunities for the sustainable development of port operations and options to invest in and encourage environmentally friendly and sustainable operations in different formats at the ports. Ports are the nodal points in the global supply chain and play a crucial role in working to improve the sustainable performance of the supply chain on a local as well as on the global scale.
