Physics Refraction Teaching Resources
Refraction Physics Teaching Resources The refraction of light leads to a variety of interesting phenomenon. this page describes, illustrates, and explains several of them in much more detail than the video does. Light changes direction when it moves into a new medium (material) at an angle to the normal. this is called refraction. when light enters a transparent material from air, it turns towards the normal. when light leaves a transparent material and re–enters air it turns away from the normal.

Refracting light i can describe and draw how a ray of light refracts when it moves from one medium to another, and explain how refraction can cause virtual images. Use ray diagrams to show the refraction of light at the boundary between two different media. explain why refraction occurs, using wave front diagrams. explain why refraction is due to the difference in velocity of waves in different substances. The refraction interactive provides an environment for exploring refraction, snell's law, and total internal reflection. learners can modify the angle of incidence, the incident medium in which light travels, and the refractive medium through which light travels.
