People Robotouch Lab [supplementary material] taxim: an example based simulation model for gelsight tactile sensors. I am a second year computer science ph.d. student at the university of illinois urbana champaign (uiuc), where i am part of the robotouch lab led by professor wenzhen yuan. I work under supervision of prof. wenzhen in robotouch lab. my research interest is mainly simulation of tactile sensor with physics based rendering. i interned at apple during summer 2022 as a software engineering intern. Prof. wenzhen yuan visited our lab and gave a talk, entitled “making sense of the physical world with high resolution tactile sensing”. she is currently an assistant professor at the computer science department at university of illinois urbana champaign and the director of the robotouch lab.

People Robotouch Lab I work under supervision of prof. wenzhen in robotouch lab. my research interest is mainly simulation of tactile sensor with physics based rendering. i interned at apple during summer 2022 as a software engineering intern. Prof. wenzhen yuan visited our lab and gave a talk, entitled “making sense of the physical world with high resolution tactile sensing”. she is currently an assistant professor at the computer science department at university of illinois urbana champaign and the director of the robotouch lab. I'm a currently a third year ece ph.d. student and a graduate research assistant in the robotouch lab at the cs department at uiuc, advised by prof. wenzhen yuan. my research primarily focuses on robotic system optimization, tactile sensing, perception, and manipulation. Experience robotouch 51, electronic complex extn., kushaiguda, hyderabad 500062 no. 88 3, phase ii, ida cherlapally, telangana, india. We design and build new tactile sensors to extend the perceptual capability of robots and study how the tactile feedback, either in an active or passive way, could help robots in different perceptual and manipulation tasks. In this work, we design and fabricate a parameterized multi layer tactile skin using off the shelf yarns with a programmable industrial knitting machine. we characterize our tactile skins to show their robust contact detection, multi contact localization, and pressure sensing capability.
