Pasco Co School Security Guards Receive Intense Training To Meet State Dozens are currently being trained to protect the district’s elementary schools when classes start in august. the county hopes to save money while still meeting the state’s new mandate to provide. Many of the trainees have past law enforcement experience, call the program top notch.

Student safety in pasco county schools is our top priority. we have armed law enforcement or certified armed school safety guards at every school. we also have a chief of safety and emergency operations who oversees district security and works very closely with our local law enforcement partners. Deputies from the pasco sheriff's office training section participated in the training of the new pasco school board safety officers today at charles s. rushe middle school in land o' lakes. The sros are either deputies or officers of pasco sheriff’s office or dade city police department, respectively. our ssgs are employed by pasco county schools and attend a rigorous academy to receive certification as a school safety guard and complete yearly recertification.
