Parshat Terumah Summary Thinking Torah Note: sometimes parashat naso is separated into naso i and naso ii as follows: the eternal one spoke to moses: "take a census of the gershonites also, by their ancestral house and by their clans." numbers 4:21 22. G‑d communicates to moses the law of the sotah, the wayward wife suspected of unfaithfulness to her husband. also given is the law of the nazir, who forswears wine, lets his or her hair grow long, and is forbidden to become contaminated through contact with a dead body. Despite this great merit, however, the torah provided a means of testing a woman's fidelity to her husband in cases where there was reasonable doubt. this is called the law of the "sotah" or the wife suspected of unfaithfulness by her husband (num. 5:12 31). As this parashah includes the story of the consecration of the tabernacle, jews also read parts of it as torah readings on the eight days of hanukkah, when they commemorate the reconsecration of the temple in jerusalem.
