Parsha Inspired Menus Shemot With the move into shemot, we move away from the stories of our patriarchs and joseph and solidly into moshe and egypt. for this week's menu, i'll go in order since i have 3 menu items and each one is from a different course. We have got a simple parshah treat to make at home and bring the parshah to life at your shabbat table! this is probably the easiest parshah dessert. it's a fun and sweet treat everyone will love! let’s jump right in and make some edible bricks! 1. in a medium pot, melt the margarine, peanut butter and marshmallow fluff, on low medium heat.

Parsha Inspired Menus Shemot This parsha inspired recipes project grew from a shared desire to spend a year exploring the weekly torah portions in a fun, modern way, and also inspired by another friend’s insightful weekly blog – parsha inspired menus. Parshat sh’mot opens quietly, almost precariously. a child is born at a dangerous moment, hidden from sight, wrapped with care, and placed into a small basket among the reeds of the nile. no miracles yet. no splitting seas. just faith, courage, and protection. The sources for this week's #parshainspiredmenus are both inspired by brief sections (two pasukim) in this very packed parsha and credit goes to dan, a fellow mincha minyan goer, for inspiring these choices. A menu may feature “jewish” recipes that reflect my ashkenazi roots, but it’s just as likely to be untraditional, borrowing from the cuisines of every culture. you’ll find menus for omnivores and menus for vegetarians, and you’ll see that many of my recipes can be made either way.

Playing on the story of baby moses floating down the nile, we chose two recipes that seemed apropos: mediterranean endive boats and stuffed zucchini boats – hearty, satisfying additions that gently echo this moment in the parsha. Shabbat shalom > shemot 5786: when the right is also wrong > shemot 5785: pawns of history > shemot 5784: the strength of restraint > shemot 5783: root cause of antisemitism > shemot 5782: of silence and violence > shmot 5781: fighting illiteracy and apathy; don’t know and don’t care. Slaves in a foreign land, subject to the cruelest of decrees. just as it seemed that things could never be worse, a leader appears, sent by god to redeem them. then things do get worse. This week's parsha is a pointed reminder that the safety and security of the jewish people (and really any minority people) is deeply linked with the favor of those who rule the land.
