This is also known as paper clip mod. many of you might know this, but this tutorial might be helpful for newbies and people in the condition that i was in a year back. You can use this to boot into rcm mode by just taking a paper clip and holding it across the contacts on the ribbon. minimal effort needed. remember to read the wiki for the basics! check the faq for basic questions! threads created for basic questions will be removed, so ask them in that thread. All you’ll need is a tiny dongle which you can find on many retailers. worst case scenario, a paper clip will do the trick (i’m not making this up). there are countless tutorials on how to hack your unpatched switch, i find that this one is pretty comprehensive. Once you find a paper clip or a small piece of wire that fits in there, and isn't covered with plastic, take your phone's flashlight and aim it inside the rail. take a good look at where the pins are, and make sure you're grounding the pin on the far right side.
