First mini in almost 20 years and back then i wasn’t interested in the painting as much as i was playing tabletop. no highlights on this one, obviously plenty of room to grow but looking for some constructive criticism on technique, paint thickness, etc. the free handing on the right shoulder needs a lot of practice obviously.
Painted My First Mini Today R Minipainting I never used mine: it had already lost its point and just feels bad in my hand. but you nailed that mini. if you feel like continuing, i highly recommend you buy some nuln oil or any other shade wash paint. it’s a special paint that sticks to recesses and brings out all the details. The first mini i painted (and i‘m really talking about only a single mini) took definitely more than 15 hours total work time. this is a lot of time for just one miniature, i admit that. This covers all the basics you need to know to get involved in building, painting and playing 40k. for rules questions, don't forget that the core rules for warhammer 40k are available online for free. To be honest, i accidentally gave him a gold streak across the forehead while doing the trim, so i decided to paint his head entirely gold instead of keeping it blue.

I stripped the first mini i painted because it looked like absolute dogshit, and i wish i didn't so i could sit it next to my current stuff as a reminder of how far i've progressed. I'm just getting in to warhammer 40k, and have painted a few models myself (i have a long way to go) but everyone that has commented has a point, thinning your paints helps a ton. just dip your brush into a cup of water once or twice and that should be enough until the paint on your pallet dries up. good luck!!. I started painting warhammer… and yeah, it did not go well at first. this was my first mini vs where i am now after actually trying to improve. I was digging through all my marines trying to re organize them and i found my first ever painted model from 2020. so, warhammer players show me your first painted model and your most recent model!.
