Science Moab Engaging People With Science In Southeast Utah And The Science moab is an organization based in moab, utah, with a mission to make place based science accessible to all. through efforts such as public engagement, student internships, and science communication training for recreation guides, science moab connects knowledge holders with community members and visitors to public lands who are hungry. To enact this vision, science moab provides public outreach programming through radio shows, newspaper features, and live events; science certification trainings for outdoor recreation and guide companies; and science mentorship opportunities for high school students. Participating scientists will have the opportunity to conduct community outreach, gain valuable mentorship and communication skills, and strengthen their research grant applications. scientists can choose to either participate in a job shadowing opportunity or a longer internship. We’re thrilled to partner with science moab this year for a saturday night science on tap event at ray’s tavern in green river. researcher sam bagge will join us to discuss her work on the ever changing colorado river watershed. The department of science mathematics education at ut dallas hosts activities and camps for under served and underrepresented populations in stem, such as the women in physics camp, targeting between 50 and 70 middle and early high school students each summer.
