Our Stories Told By Us In this important period of reflection on over 40 years of the uk’s hiv response, we felt it was critical to tell these stories. above all else, it was pivotal for africans living with hiv to lead this project and to tell our own stories in our own words. For more than two years, the group collected stories from the diverse communities of african people living with hiv and included allies. the contributions cover life before and after coming to the uk and before and after learning about their hiv status.

Our Stories Told By Us Celebrating the 40th anniversary of hiv, 40 stories were showcased, portraying women’s empowerment, and reflecting 80s, 90s, black african, and afro british history memoir. Their aim was to compile 40 stories, marking the 40th anniversary of hiv. through regular meetings and interviews, they gathered personal stories, poetry, and evocative photographs. Through regular meetings and interviews, they gathered personal stories, poetry, and evocative photographs. the resulting book is more than a collection; it’s a testament to an often unseen community's resilience and impact in the hiv journey. 4mnet is thrilled to share our stories told by us – a book launch held on thursday 25th of may at positive east. authored by five black african women living with hiv in the uk including 4m mentor mothers memory sachinkoye, rebecca mbewe, charity nyirenda and angelina namiba. This book focuses on the uk hiv epidemic, and within that reflects on the hiv experience of african communities through individual stories and reflections rather than hiv statistics.
