The Center For Communities That Care For un human rights, care and support are essential activities that make everyday life possible. they include tasks such as cooking, cleaning, laundry, grocery shopping, caring for children, and providing the support that persons with disabilities need to live independently. Unicef developed the communities care: transforming lives and preventing violence programme (cc programme) based on evidence and experience that show that changing collective beliefs and unspoken rules in communities can lead to change in collective practices and behaviours.

Our Story Care Communities Thousands of families in north texas need our support. we believe every child deserves even a temporary home during times when parents may not be able to care for them. Protracted conflicts and the accelerating impacts of climate change have increased care demands on women and girls. when these demands grow, and public systems are unable to cope with increased pressure, women and girls absorb the bulk of care work. As part of an indigenous people, the essence of our community is caring for all the living beings on our territory. but it has taken time for us to recognize the value of that care work and the women providing it. While it is impossible to ascribe a numerical figure to the full and intrinsic value of care work, estimates based on minimum wage and time use data put the monetary value of unpaid care.

Our Work What Does Care Do Care As part of an indigenous people, the essence of our community is caring for all the living beings on our territory. but it has taken time for us to recognize the value of that care work and the women providing it. While it is impossible to ascribe a numerical figure to the full and intrinsic value of care work, estimates based on minimum wage and time use data put the monetary value of unpaid care. What is care in communities? the ifrc’s care in communities (cic) programme is an adaptable, evidence based and sustainable approach to tackling global health care challenges. From trained community health workers to traditional caregivers, local volunteers and peer support networks, communities play a central role in promoting health, preventing illness and responding to emergencies. empowered communities is one of the three pillars of primary health care. Community engagement turns care from something people receive into something they’re part of. it promotes wellbeing, independence and meaningful relationships — the foundations of a good quality of life. Community organizations serve as essential anchors in the urban social support landscape, performing critical care work that contributes to the ongoing well being and survival of their communities. often, the care work they undertake is implicit, and embedded in other core activities, yet bears immense benefit for underserved urban populations.
