Historic Oneida Stake Academy Community Education Legacy The oneida stake academy was a secondary school operated by the oneida stake of the church of jesus christ of latter day saints (lds church) from 1888 to 1922. the academy building was constructed in preston, idaho, in 1895, after the stake headquarters moved from franklin, idaho, in 1889. The academy was moved to benson park in november 2003 to land donated by the church of jesus christ of latter day saints. currently, the mormon historic sites foundation and the oneida stake academy foundation are gathering donations to allow the restoration of the academy. Over 30 academies were built for this purpose. oneida stake academy is one of the oldest, having been organized in 1888 in franklin. the new rock academy was finished in 1895. john nuffer was the head stone mason.
