Introducing The Latest Noctor Flavor The Doctor Of Clinical To my knowledge the use of pas in obstetrics is very limited. i’m thinking it was likely a cnm or maybe the pa was providing prenatal care but i’ve never heard of a pa practicing obstetrics independently. I’m an african american ms4 applying for the upcoming match in obgyn. at my current sub i i began to feel extremely discouraged due to the systemic biases you mentioned. The bloating is to the point that sweat pants don’t fit, and the pain bleeding is starting to interfere with with my work. i sought out a new obgyn in my new city, but the soonest appointment i could get was with an np. i explained my entire history, current symptoms, etc to her. She isn’t even a cnm or a whnp let alone an obgyn! i spent most of my nursing career working with residents in ob, plus fellows in neonatology, maternal fetal medicine etc.

My understanding is that the role of nps and pas was to free up doctors and provide care in rural or lower acuity settings. which sounds good in theory but it seems like the schools have taken it as an opportunity to profit on as many students as possible without providing any substantive education. What is a noctor? a noctor is a midlevel [a nurse practitioner (np), physician assistant (pa), or nurse anesthetist (crna)] who claims to have the same expertise and ability as a physician. Just wondering if it matters to have a supervising ob or not ? and how much shall i push for it? also, i have a similar question for epidurals, i am sure they will have a crna give it to me but i do not want that. i want a real doctor.
