Need Help With Timing Issue Subaru Outback Forums Every time i set the timing it seems that the passenger side pulley flops around while the driver's side has a bit of tension to it. if i move it even a half an inch past the timing mark, it is spring loaded and will quickly move about 90°. Did you turn the engine over by hand a few times to make sure the timing marks on the crank and camshafts gears still lined up? if not, you may need to take the timing cover off again to check.
