National Senior Games Qualifying To compete in most sports, an athlete must qualify at a state senior games in the year before the national senior games. for the 2027 national senior games, athletes must qualify in 2026. To be eligible to compete at the next national senior games (2025 in des moines, iowa) athletes must qualify at a state designated qualifying competition. california will be hosting two qualifying competitions for each sport, one in southern california, one in northern california.
