Nasa S Aquarius Maps Ocean Salinity Structure Nasa Science Maps of sea surface salinity are based on the latest algorithms (v5) developed by the aquarius calibration validation working group. these maps are produced by python packages cartopy and matplotlib, and include the following projections: click on the images (below) for a closer view. Aquarius level 3 sea surface salinity (sss) standard mapped image data contains gridded 1 degree spatial resolution sss averaged over daily, 7 day, monthly, and seasonal time scales.

Nasa Salinity Aquarius Maps Scientists are combining aquarius data with in water measurements to generate operational maps of ocean salinity distribution. Operating at the same wavelength, soil moisture active passive (smap) was launched four years later in 2015. they have provided a continuous record of essential information on our ocean, water cycle, and climate. aquarius and smap have produced a wealth of data products. These maps show mission composite, monthly, seasonal, and annual data and based on the latest algorithms developed by the aquarius calibration validation working group (162 images). List of available maps derived from aquarius science products, including sea surface salinity and density, brightness temperature, rfi, and soil moisture.

The figure shows sea surface salinity (color shading in panels a and b) on december 18, 2011, derived from aquarius measurements, showing the peaks and valleys of tropical instability waves in the eastern to central equatorial pacific ocean. These composite maps show global sea surface salinity averaged by month and by season. click on the images (below) for a closer view. in these maps, reds show higher salinity (38 grams per kilogram) and purples show relatively low salinity (33 grams per kilogram). This visualization celebrates over a year of successful aquarius observations. sea surface salinity is shown on a flat map using a simple cartesian and extended molleide projections. These maps show global sea surface salinity averaged by month and season. they are based on the latest algorithms developed by the aquarius calibration validation working group (16 images).
