My Winter Daily Driver R Corvette
My Winter Daily Driver R Corvette The real question is car washes often? i've been driving my c5 anytime it's above 40f and no snow here in the ne. I daily drove my 2020 c8 corvette stingray through an entire northeast winter — snow, ice, salt, freezing temps, all of it. here’s what 8 months of real winter ownership taught me about.
Daily Driver R Corvette My c7 is my only daily driver, so i drive it all winter. fortunately, the average hi lo here for dec., jan. and feb. is 62 44, and the other months are all significantly warmer. Ive been daily driving my c5 6 speed for a year straight now. i had to park it a few times in winter and get rides from my girlfriend to work, but as soon as the roads cleared i was right back at it. I daily drove my c4 in the chicago winter a couple years back. with the traction control on, and shifting from 1 or 2 to 4 when possible, i was honestly impressed with how stable the car was and how it performed as a winter driver in plowed conditions. The corvette (stingray c7 c8 experience) is fine for most things i encounter with snow tires. honestly, only thing that hurts it i've found is the height, and that is based on where you live.

People say you shouldn't drive vettes in the rain but my c5 is my daily driver and i've been in some really heavy northeastern rain and the car was absolutely fine. no loss of traction, nothing. i'm actually really curious this winter to see if i can take it in the snow, just to see what she'll do. For those of you that dont daily drive your vette, what do you daily? i’m looking to replace my old altima for a “newer” dd but can’t quite decide on…. Add to that, the damage that salt will do to all the metal parts, and the car will look like a corroded piece of junk in a few short winters. we have a 4x4 for safe winter driving and it works for us.
