Tldr; tno is the mod of all time, and i don’t say that as a sarcastic insult, but because i don’t actually have a word for it, i’m blown away. as soon as i put the laptop down i wanted to write this appreciation post (and to also see what other people did when they first started out their games!).

Having recently managed to focus hard enough on hoi4 to figure out how exactly to play it (though i have yet to crack the naval aspects) and picked up tno, i wanted to drop some notes when it came to the liberal speer path of the german reich from a writer's perspective. The long answer is that tno is a collection of hundreds of stories, experiences and characters from an alternate world, where you the player follow a narrative and ultimately influence how the story ends, for good or for worse.
My Tno Experience R Tnomod Having recently managed to focus hard enough on hoi4 to figure out how exactly to play it (though i have yet to crack the naval aspects) and picked up tno, i wanted to drop some notes when it came to the liberal speer path of the german reich from a writer's perspective. The long answer is that tno is a collection of hundreds of stories, experiences and characters from an alternate world, where you the player follow a narrative and ultimately influence how the story ends, for good or for worse. I absolutely adore the level of writing, story and immersive gameplay elements that tno presents, but tno's story is just too dark and gloomy for me and i wish there was a softer and less dark alt history mod that still contained the best of what tno has to offer. I tried out tno recently and i had a blast playing vyatka and reuniting all of russia under the tsar and i was excited to unlock the focus tree that would allow me to wage war on either the japanese or the germans. My first tno game was as chita, one of the russian warlords in the siberian far east. it has a pretty great story and i do recommend checking it out. i also recommend downloading the second west russian war submod and playing the democratic path for novosibirsk. it is a really amazing experience. I present to you my first submod on tno, called tno:new years of hetmanate. it's focused on continuing the story for ukraine, with the continuation of gameplay until 1972 !.
