My Math Conic Project

Conic Section Project
Conic Section Project

Conic Section Project I love math, creating hands on activities and resources, and crafting logic puzzles. i get extra excited when i get to combine those passions to create quality classroom resources that are 100% free. The document outlines a mathematics project on conic sections submitted to ms. payel raha by a student. it covers the definitions, equations, and properties of circles, ellipses, parabolas, and hyperbolas, as well as a creative project integrating these shapes into a smiley face.

Fun Conic Sections Activities Math Love The project contains information on different types of conic sections (parabolas, ellipses, hyperbolas, and circles) including their definitions, common features, examples, and applications. Conic sections are the curves obtained by intersecting a plane with a double napped cone. they include circles, ellipses, parabolas, and hyperbolas, each with unique properties and significant applications in mathematics, physics, and various real world contexts. Blend creativity and math skills with this conic sections project. students demonstrate their understanding of the four types of conic sections through this project in which student create their own themed images using parabolas, circles, ellipses, and hyperbolas. Conic section refers to the curves formed by intersecting a plane with a double cone. these curves circles, ellipses, parabolas, and hyperbolas are fundamental in mathematics and have wide ranging applications in physics, engineering, and astronomy.

In this activity, students explore the connections between algebraic and graphical representations of various conic sections as they work through a series of graphing challenges. I decided to use this folding conic sections project to kick off our conics unit in pre calculus. over the last few years, i have learned how to create parabolas, ellipses, and hyperbolas using paper folding. I've posted my students' conics project in 2019 and 2018, but what turned out great this year was that they couldn't be printed, so students actually worked more on discovering animations. Our faculty enjoyed the conic sections models. they liked how it would show students “where they come from and what they are” in an easy to understand manner.this is a model that i now use during open house events, as it is quick and interesting to talk about with students at any level.
