My First Mini Ever Painted R Warhammer40k I started painting warhammer… and yeah, it did not go well at first. this was my first mini vs where i am now after actually trying to improve. First time painting, decided to start with my newest purchase, the ravener kt, but i have the starter set models up next. i’m thinking i want to do a very slightly khaki grey tint on the skin by making a wash, thoughts on that? also doing a dark blue dry brush on the raised parts of the carapace and then redoing the edge highlights. I stripped the first mini i painted because it looked like absolute dogshit, and i wish i didn't so i could sit it next to my current stuff as a reminder of how far i've progressed. The first mini i painted (and i‘m really talking about only a single mini) took definitely more than 15 hours total work time. this is a lot of time for just one miniature, i admit that.

I never used mine: it had already lost its point and just feels bad in my hand. but you nailed that mini. if you feel like continuing, i highly recommend you buy some nuln oil or any other shade wash paint. it’s a special paint that sticks to recesses and brings out all the details. I'd advise using a spray primer, probably mechanicus grey, and diluting your paints on a pallet. look for a redgrass games wet pallet and see if it's in your budget. I didn’t have those, back in the late 90’s when i stopped painting and playing. take your time, enjoy the hobby and maybe experiment with new techniques on non important minis. I had the same thing with the wash on my first mini this weekend too like the redditor below suggested, i've since gone over the blue panels again and it looks much better less muddy!.
