Here we consider what fairness, consistency, transparency, and care of the workforce means to decolonising. this includes everyone who works with museums, including volunteers, staff, freelancers and partners. With nearly two thirds (63%) of the art museum workforce now made up of millennial or gen z workers, art museum workplaces will inevitably be reshaped in the coming years. This study was designed using distinct but related surveys of three groups: staff, human resources (hr), and directors within us art museums. all three surveys were distributed to our 91 partner museums (full list below). We aim not just to attract short term placements, but to develop a more diverse staff, structurally reshaping our workforce and becoming more representative of the people of edinburgh.
