This mel guide has been developed to support your international development organisation to increase knowledge, confidence and success in monitoring, evaluation and learning (mel). To capture the diversity of changes, mechanisms of changes and impacts achieved by the cdais project in the different countries, the global coordination team decided to develop a monitoring, evaluation and learning (mel) system at the initial stage of the project. Monitoring, evaluation and learning (mel) functions are central to unicef’s commitment to evidence based, equitable, and adaptive programming, as well as to its accountability for results and knowledge informed decisions.

This is a list of curated tools and resources that can help you plan, develop and integrate monitoring, evaluation, and learning (mel) into your work throughout the programme cycle, as well as to apply knowledge and adjust the approach gained from evidence generated through mel. The guide is part of a four part series on designing, implementing and monitoring impactful msd programs to advance wee. the four chapters are: sector selection and diagnosis, partner selection, intervention strategy and monitoring, learning evaluation (this one). At the beginning of your collaborative effort, dedicate time in sessions, between sessions or informal spaces to introduce concepts of monitoring, evaluation, learning, reflection and adaptation.
