The purpose of this study is to review the literature in order to identify which barriers to mental health treatment are more pronounced in asian populations and analyze the way that culture influences these barriers and treatment seeking behaviors across the lens of western mental health. This scoping review identifies barriers and enablers to accessing mental health care services in southeast asia, highlighting ongoing stigma, poor health literacy, and resource limitations as significant challenges. While the importance of mental health and its impact on overall health and well being has been widely recognized, there continue to be ongoing barriers to accessing mental health services.
