This process was weighted by the mbta’s key objectives, enabling the model to filter and rank bus networks. these filters refined potential routes according to trip distance and duration, connection to rapid transit, and the ability to connect residential and commercial areas.
Transit Maps Project Boston Mbta Map Redesign The process was guided by a combination of analysis of travel market data and knowledge of local conditions, with equity centered in decision making throughout. When needed, the boston region mpo has been contracted to update and correct these maps. beginning in the spring of 2025 and until end of 2029, the mbta will annually add or change a predetermined set of maps to align with the mbta’s bus network redesign effort. We plan to take a phased, five year approach to implementation. between station open houses, online surveys, operator in reach, and multi lingual community focus groups, and public meetings, we received over 20,000 comments on our draft map, and made changes to 85 of the 133 proposed routes. Task 1 update maps for phase 2 the mbta will provide a list of maps that will need to be updated for this phase. using current and up to date resources, ctps will create the new maps required for this phase. Phase 1 was focused north of boston phase 2 will focus on south of boston roxbury dorchester mattapan phases 2 will have changes every quarter where mbta will implement selected changes for each phase in comparison, phase 1 was implemented in one night. New bus schedules and timetables will provide more details on service changes. the updated subway, neighborhood, and bus connection maps are being installed across phase 1 communities, including within bus shelters.
