Mars Attacks 3 Preview First Comics News Most of my experience with mars attacks comes from the 1996 movie, and while it was a fun and outrageous movie, it was played totally for laughs. this issue, this one issue, had more emotion and character development than some comics can manage in a year. Mars attacks! is a piss take through and through. it takes the controversial trading cards of the 60s and creates a movie around them, taking the opportunity to poke fun and as many old sci fi films as possible. By now your opinion of it all will have shot off in one of two directions either mars attacks! is a brave, surrealist's tour de force, or it's a steaming pile of trumped up, rubbery poo . Mars attacks! depicts a martian invasion of three parts of the united states: washington d.c., las vegas, and the plains of kansas. along the way, we meet a gallery of underdeveloped (or, in many cases, completely undeveloped) would be characters.

Mars attacks! is wacky, carefree and impulsive, with a pitch black sense of humor and a penchant for cutting off primary characters' heads (or turning them into glowing skeletons, as it were) well before their stories have climaxed. A holiday film with no conscience whatsoever, mars attacks! will make you laugh, it will make you cry, and it definitely will make you wonder about earth's ability to defend itself in the face of higher life forms. Something i didn't know until 2021: mars attacks! is based on a line of topps trading cards. a brief dive into those cards reveals a rather dark and brutal story (especially for 1962) of martians invading earth just like we see in the movie. “it has a silly juvenile appeal in its unrelenting and subversive camp satire of the pop culture scene.” reviewed by dennis schwartz. mars attacks! is a bad b film that has become recognized over time as a cult delight.
