Mark S Veg Plot Potting Up Tomatoes I think (i hope) the risk of frost has passed now, so i have potted up my tomato plants. tomato plants are very "tender" and are easily damaged by frost. i expect a few people lost theirs when we had that severe frost 10 days ago. With the weather forecast now showing a string of mild nights coming up, i have "taken the plunge" and potted up my tomatoes. by this i mean moving them into bigger pots which will be their final homes.

One of the best features of this type of plant is that it has a habit of putting up "suckers" or underground side shoots, which appear from the roots near the base of them main plant, so that just when you think your crop has finished it starts all over again!.
