Research Kasahara Lab We study the flow induced reconfiguration of buoyant, flexible aquatic vegetation through a combination of laboratory flume experiments and theoretical modeling. By generating drag and reducing near bed flow, aquatic vegetation limits erosion and provides shelter for fauna. by producing oxygen and taking up excess nutrients from the water, aquatic vegetation can prevent dangerous eutrophication and anoxia. Abstract: the growth of microbial cultures in the laboratory often is assessed informally with a quick flick of the wrist: dense suspensions of microorganisms produce translucent “swirls” when agitated. Dr. luhar's core research expertise is in fluid dynamics. his work addresses aerodynamic and hydrodynamic design, coastal protection, river restoration, and environmental science, and involves a combination of laboratory experiments and modeling. Ofessor of aerospace and mechanical engineering at the university of southern california. research in h. s group tackles control of wall bounded turbulent flows and fluid structure . nteractions. this work combinates laboratory experiments and reduced complexity modeli. senior principal research scientist, csiro, australia cited by 4,042 climate chemistry air pollution modelling micro and meso scale meteorology turbulence.
