Live Review Leeds Festival 2014 Love Music Love Life With a stellar line up including the likes of blink 182, paramore, the 1975 and arctic monkeys this year’s leeds festival certainly did not disappoint. eager to get the festival underway we headed to main stage early doors on friday morning to watch american pop punk band – the story so far. The music is pretty clear and faultless for the most part, and all the expected tracks are played, but there was so little engagement that the whole set becomes background noise, when it should be a fixation.
Love Music Love Life Having opened for paramore on their last uk arena tour and been tipped for success by almost every uk music critic of note, it would be intriguing to see if the band would live up to the hype, as well as being a little surprising that they weren’t actually headlining one of the many stages. For the seventh year running the city of leeds becomes a vibrant stomping ground for bands across the uk, with this year’s highlights featuring frank turner, clean bandit, george ezra, albert hammond junior, nina nesbitt and the midnight beast. Always worth a visit, this is the live at leeds outpost that gives not one jot about the latest trendiest anything. you don’t even need a festival wristband – i think it’s about four quid in without – to see about 20 bands alternating between its two floors. Next up we head over to leeds university’s refectory for live at leeds (pictured), who’ve drawn a sizeable crowd. 5 albums of emotionally charged indie pop have seen them gain deserved cult status, and there’s a fair contingent of die hard fans at the front.

These guys have been going for donkey’s years but after about three songs they were heading for a one word review. luckily they sort things out with the magnificent ‘man up’ followed by some bonkers where they make a lot of monkey noises. The sun was out and the atmosphere was electric across leeds on saturday 3rd may for the city’s annual live at leeds festival. having never attended the festival before, i was interested to see for myself why this festival, now in its eight year, is one of the north’s acclaimed live music events. ‘with love and squalor’ is a meaty rock record that’s been on my ipod from the day i discovered good music, so i was grateful that leeds festival gifted me the opportunity to hear the classics from it ‘nobody move, nobody get hurt’ and ‘it’s a hit’ live. Returning for its eight year, this years live at leeds was the best yet. with 20 venues to choose from, thousands of music fans were treated to a perfect sunny day to discover the best in new music as well as some more well known faces.
