Chicago Lisc Chicago In early february 2010, lisc chicago hosted a "back to the future" panel discussion prior to the 16th annual chicago neighborhood development awards ceremony. At the panel, four chicago area policymakers discussed the state of the city’s neighborhoods, and what factors will play into their redevelopment in the coming years.

Although chicago lost in its bid for the 2016 olympic games, the city should continue to implement improvements to its communities as if it were planning for. Established in 1995, the chicago neighborhood development awards (cnda) recognize the essential role that both non profit and for profit developers play in building communities in chicago area neighborhoods. From looking back at the financial tools that shaped our neighborhoods to spotlighting bold ideas for what’s next, the panel sparked meaningful dialogue about how we move forward, together. Recognizing the limitations of that narrow approach, neighborhood leaders in chicago under the guidance of the lisc chicago office established a more robust and comprehensive way of thinking about neighborhood development. In partnership with lisc chicago, the macarthur foundation, and the school of social service administration at the university of chicago, mdrc is building a body of knowledge about the achievements and challenges of the new communities program (ncp).
