Lent Reflection For 27th February
Lent Reflection Wednesday 24 February Psalm 23 Comfortable Words Saturday of the 2nd week of lent reminds us of god’s boundless love and his invitation to return to him. these themes encourage us to reflect on our need for forgiveness, our call to forgive others, and the joy of living in god’s mercy. First be reconciled to your brother and then come and offer your gift. just as, in christ, we are reconciled to god, so we are called to reconcile with one another. if i am bringing my gift to the altar and then remember that someone has something against me, i should leave my gift and try to restore the relationship.

Friends, today’s gospel exposes the pride of the pharisees and concludes with the prescription of humility. i want to reflect on this virtue. st. augustine said that all of us, made from nothing, tend toward nothing. we can see this in our frailty and sin and mortality. st. paul said, “what do you possess that you have not received?. This daily lenten reflection brings that hidden danger into focus. greed is not only about wealth. it is about attachment. it is the constant pull toward having more, keeping more, and wanting more, even when enough has already been given. it shifts trust away from god and places it in possessions, status, or control. Read the story of jesus casting out the money changers in the temple. but there is a type of anger that can grab hold of us – it makes our blood boil until our head wants to explode. the only relief? forgiveness. During this season of lent, let our prayer be: o my savior and god! oh, perfect sacrifice, you alone are our rabbi, our father, our master, and our friend!. Today’s reflection in the sixth station of the cross, jesus speaks: “can you be brave enough to wipe my bloody face?” “where is your face?” you may ask, and i will answer “at home, at work, in the streets, on market corners, wherever suffering exists, my face is there and there i look for you to wipe away my blood and tears.”.
