Leaves Eyes Sign Of The Dragonhead Album Review Louder
Leaves Eyes Sign Of The Dragonhead Album Review Louder Even younger bands like epica and delain have shown considerable growth and released some stunning music lately. which is why, in 2017, there is no excuse to release an album like sign of the dragonhead. I don’t think i’ve listened to a leaves’ eyes album at the time of release since vinland saga came out in 2005, and yet here i am, amg’s apparent self proclaimed queen of symphonic metal for early 2018, giving sign of the dragonhead a few spins.
Leaves Eyes Sign Of The Dragonhead Album Review Cryptic Rock Sign of the dragonhead doesn’t rank among the greatest achievements in symphonic metal, and also not among the best releases of leaves’ eyes, but it’s a satisfying filler to keep you excited until the next massive album comes along. The title track “sign of the dragonhead” can be heard right at the beginning, banging guitar riffs steamroll everything. for this, the beguiling soprano of front lady elina siirala fits perfectly and mastermind alex krull contributes his growls. Sign of the dragonhead isn't as strong as the vivid predecessor but a worthy successor that focuses more on melody than heaviness. if you like elegant folk and symphonic metal in the key of nightwish's tarja turunen era, you should also give this release a few spins. In the end, sign of the dragonhead delivers everything a mainstream symphonic metal album with some added viking spice ought to deliver. dark riffs, choir laden operatics, gruff growls, and a superb female front singer in the person of elina siirala as the figurehead.
Leaves Eyes Sign Of The Dragonhead Album Review Metalheads Forever Sign of the dragonhead isn't as strong as the vivid predecessor but a worthy successor that focuses more on melody than heaviness. if you like elegant folk and symphonic metal in the key of nightwish's tarja turunen era, you should also give this release a few spins. In the end, sign of the dragonhead delivers everything a mainstream symphonic metal album with some added viking spice ought to deliver. dark riffs, choir laden operatics, gruff growls, and a superb female front singer in the person of elina siirala as the figurehead. The title track opens the album with atmospheric percussion and choral vocals, before exploding into heavy guitar chords and contrasting melodies that build up a large sound. this is a strong opening to the album as it displays elina’s vocal abilities. Let me first say, there are a lot of great tracks on this new release that embody the symphonic metal sound that fans have grown to love leaves’ eye for. the pleasant mix of folk metal also infuses a number of the tracks. Overall, her performance is good but there are times that her voice sounds forced such as on “sign of the dragonhead” which, instrumentally, is a nice opener but not a great way of introducing the new vocalist, not to mention the childish chorus. ‘sign of the dragonhead’ is not a bad album, it just needed to be a real ‘wow’ in order to satisfy fans and move the band past their recent troubles. elina siirala certainly makes her mark and that is one real positive.
