Lassie Movie Review Film Summary Review Much goes right, but much also goes wrong, and i would not dream of revealing the outcome of lassie’s duel with a wolf, or what happens after she braves dangerous rapids to save a drowning child. the funny thing is, the movie sort of grew on me. yes, i was clicking off the cliches (yes!). The movie is based on eric knight’s novel “lassie come home” (1940) and inspired by the long running tv series and earlier films. the 1994 version modernized the story but kept the timeless themes of courage, loyalty, and the bond between a boy and his dog.
