Labor Conditions Sugarcane Sugarcane workers are hired in compliance with the current legislation and are represented by unions, who negotiate collective bargaining agreements to gain better benefits on a regular basis. workplace safety and health are a priority for the brazilian sugarcane industry. An ethnography research method has used to study the migrant life of sugarcane harvesting workers. these observations were recorded in the month of january to february 2024.
Labor Conditions Sugarcane Despite its economic significance, india’s sugarcane sector remains associated with human rights abuses and forced labour. maharashtra, one of the key sugar producing states, contributes over a third of india’s total sugar output. Through a survey conducted with digital tools, we communicated with more than 800 male and female workers in the latin american cane sugar industry in 2021. this has provided us with data and vital information about labour conditions in the value chains of the region. Researching the working and living conditions of young cane cutters, and incorporating their suggestions into prevention projects, such as alternative income generation and decent youth employment. Sugarcane ash is already considered to be a substantial respiratory burden for sugarcane fieldworkers, but the extent of such exposures beyond those in the immediate vicinity and the full range of potential health effects are still being investigated.
