Tradicionalno ptujsko kurentovanje je prireditev, ki se začne v soboto, dober teden pred pustnim torkom, s srečanjem tipičnih slovenskih pustnih likov in mask. It represents the greatest slovenian and central european carnival festival. the ethnographic part of the carnival is specifically marked by the figure of kurent or korant, as it is called by the villagers around ptuj, and is limited to the lower podravje region comprising 19 communities. Kurentovanje embodies a profound symbolism rooted in ancient pagan fertility rites, which have been seamlessly integrated with christian shrovetide traditions, symbolizing the community's collective drive for renewal, the expulsion of winter's hardships, and the ushering in of spring's vitality.
